Although the report remains an important milestone in terms of the need to build evidence-based policies and foster international collaboration, current circumstances require further updates that address the technological and regulatory advances that have occurred since then. Emerging areas such as digital governance and identity management remain key, but it is now also essential to consider the impact of NFTs, smart contracts and interoperability between blockchain systems.
