It simply operates with the cold logic of algorithms. Nor does he “remember” like we do; It does not store subjective experiences nor learn from them with the richness of human memory, but rather stores and retrieves information. And, crucially, he does not “do” things with his own ethical intentionality or assuming intrinsic responsibility for his actions or their consequences.

This set of conscious “not knowing” and “not doing” creates a significant “void.” A space where undetected biases can flourish, where misinformation can spread unchecked, where decisions can be made without empathy, and where accountability becomes diffuse. It is a gap that technology alone cannot fill.

But the story does not end in the confirmation of this void. The article introduces us to the hero of this narrative: HUMAN GOVERNANCE. She is the only one capable of building bridges over that abyss. Through strong ethical frameworks, thoughtful regulations, and active and vigilant human oversight, we can guide the development and application of AI. It is not about slowing down progress, but about directing it wisely, ensuring that this powerful tool becomes an ally for the common good, mitigating its inherent risks and filling that void with responsibility, ethics and human purpose.

At its core, AI is a formidable instrument, but it is we, through effective governance, who must write the script for how it will be used to build a better, fairer future for all.

Access the full article.

By Antonio Tejeda Encinas.
