Legal services are provided exclusively by independent lawyers qualified in each jurisdiction, who take on the conduct of the matter as counsel and the corresponding professional liability. This reference scale sets out the fees applicable to engagements coordinated by META Channel Legal Desk in the Spanish jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>The independent lawyers appointed to each engagement are subject to the professional and ethical rules that apply to them in the jurisdiction in which they practise. META Channel Legal Desk operates in multiple jurisdictions. The fees for each engagement depend on the professional appointed, local regulation, the complexity of the matter and the relevant market. For the Spanish jurisdiction, META Channel has established this reference scale in agreement with its network of professionals, and publishes it for the sake of transparency and as a basis for formalising engagements.<\/p>\n<p>These terms are intended to serve as the basis for setting the fees that will apply to engagements coordinated by META Channel Legal Desk in Spain. The total amount of each engagement will be the sum of the individual services performed by the professional appointed, plus META Channel Corporation&#8217;s coordination fees where applicable, together with the corresponding taxes.<\/p>\n<p>In court proceedings, there is always a possibility that a claim will not succeed and that the client will be ordered to pay costs. This may mean having to pay not only the fees of the professionals acting for the client, but also those of the opposing party&#8217;s professionals and other costs of the proceedings. META Channel Legal Desk informs the client of this possibility in the relevant engagement letter.<\/p>\n<p>Every META Channel Legal Desk client receives a formal engagement letter setting out the specific fees for the matter, the independent professional appointed and META Channel Corporation&#8217;s coordination role.<\/p>\n<p>The fees shown in this scale exclude tax. In the Spanish jurisdiction, legal services are subject to Value Added Tax (21% VAT) or the Canary Islands General Indirect Tax (7% IGIC), depending on the territory. The relevant tax must be added to the amounts shown to arrive at the total price.<\/p>\n<p class=\"eyebrow\">Note on territorial scope<\/p>\n<p>This reference scale sets out the fees that apply exclusively to engagements coordinated by META Channel Legal Desk in the Spanish jurisdiction. META Channel Legal Desk operates in multiple jurisdictions (including Spain, Ireland and Latin America). For all other jurisdictions, fees are determined case by case and communicated to the client in the relevant engagement letter. Spain is the jurisdiction in which META Channel Legal Desk has the largest concentration of coordinated professionals and the highest volume of work, which has made it possible to publish a detailed scale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"eyebrow\">General Provisions<\/p>\n<p>META Channel Legal Desk coordinates the work of independent professionals, who must be remunerated in accordance with the terms set out in the relevant engagement letter. For engagements coordinated by META Channel Legal Desk, a single overall price may be agreed for the services contracted. In that case, an Engagement Letter will always be drawn up as the contractual instrument that formalises the relationship between the parties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tiles tiles--2\">\n<div class=\"tile\">\n<p class=\"tile__kicker\">How Fees Are Calculated<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tile__title\">Hourly Fees<\/h3>\n<div class=\"tile__text\">\n<p>Where work is billed by the hour (that is, where there is no prior quote, either because the client has waived one or because this has been specifically agreed):<\/p>\n<ul class=\"price-list\">\n<li><span>Business hours (9:00 to 18:00)\u20ac<\/span><b>150 \/ h<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span>Outside business hours (surcharge)\u20ac<\/span><b>180 \/ h<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span>After 18:00<\/span><b>\u20ac220 \/ h<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span>Weekends, public holidays or genuine<\/span><b> emergencies\u20ac280 \/ h<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"tile__kicker\">Important note<\/p>\n<p>All professional services provided remotely (WhatsApp, video calls, email or any other remote means) are charged at the same rate as services provided in person at the office.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tile\">\n<p class=\"tile__kicker\">How Fees Are Calculated<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tile__title\">Fees Based on the Value of the Matter<\/h3>\n<div class=\"tile__text\">\n<p>Where so agreed, lawyers&#8217; fees may also depend largely on the value of the claim or the financial interest at stake. In that case, the value is determined by the value of the property or claim in dispute.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"price-list\">\n<li><span>Where the value cannot be determined, the following basis will be used: \u20ac<\/span><b>25,000<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"tile__kicker\">Worked Example (basis \u20ac25,000)<\/p>\n<p>First \u20ac4,000 at 25% (\u20ac1,000) + excess up to \u20ac18,000 at 18% (\u20ac2,520) + excess up to \u20ac25,000 at 16% (\u20ac1,120).
